Summer schedule: tickets are daily available from 10:00 to 19:00, entrance is from Karpovka river’s embankment; exit after 19:00 is available only through the checkpoint on the Professora Popova street, 2.

The schedule of the Garden Greenhouses

*In cases, when there are a lot of visitors and also during the festivals and holiday events, our greenhouses are available in “Walk” mode. “Walk” mode is a special regime, during which guides stand on duty along the entire length of route and You walk along the route with a convenient pace for Yourself. Children under 4 are allowed to visit greenhouses during the “Walk” mode under the full responsibility of the parents.

Important to know:

– visiting the greenhouses is possible only when accompanied by the staff of the Botanical Garden;

– groups are formed by cashier;

– the number of excursions is limited, be careful, tickets can end earlier than 16:30;

– children under 4 are not allowed in the greenhouses during the excursions;

– during the storm park-arboretum can be closed for visitors.

ROUTES

SUBTROPICAL

The subtropical zone is one of the most diverse climate region in terms of vegetation. Plants represented in subtropical greenhouses originate from the Mediterranean region, North and South America, China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. There is a large number of fruit plants growing in the subtropical zones such as various citrus species, pomegranate, fig, persimmon, loquat and many others. Brightly blooming plants are also well represented on the subtropical route. In the middle of the winter beautiful camellias (Camellia japonica) begin to open their buds. Azaleas (Rhododendron sp.) bloom between February and April and attract huge number of visitors to the greenhouses. Exposition of carnivorous plants is also located on the this route along with some hardy palm species and subtropical orchids.

TROPICAL

The tropical climate is characterized by constant (high) air temperature throughout the year.This route contains an extensive collection of ancient plants - ferns and cycads, a collection of plants of arid zones, savannas and rainforests. Collection of edible and consumable plants includes such well-known exotic plants as mango, pineapple, papaya, bananas, coffee, cacao, cardamom, turmeric, ginger, vanilla. On the Tropical route we can also observe the oldest plant of our Botanical Garden – the cactus species Selenicereus grandiflorus («Moonlight cactus», «Queen of the night»). It has been cultivated in our greenhou ses continuously since 1824.

AQUATIC (only summer)

This route is invited to visit two greenhouses built in the late 19th century – Great Palmhouseand Victorian (Aquatic) greenhouse. The Victorian greenhouse was built in 1899 year specifically for growing giant water lily Victoria amazonica (Victoria regia) and includes a pool for water plants with a diameter of 12,9 meters. The Great Palmhouse contains an extensive collection of tropical palms from all around the world. At the Victorian greenhouse you can also see rice (Oryza sativa), papyrus (Cyperus papyrus), sucarcane (Saccharum officinarum) growing right in the water, decorative Gloriosa (Gloriosa superba) and passionflower (Passiflora sp.), blooming indian lotuses (Nelumbo nucifera). This route also offers a collection of plants of the tropical coastal zone (mangroves).
